abstract | A composition comprising component A, component B and optional component C is provided. Here, Component A consists of one or more carboxy-terminated polyarylate or other types of functionalized polyarylate. Component B is an organic species that can react with the reactive end groups of Component A, and Component C is a catalyst or catalyst mixture. Carboxy-terminated polyarylates and functionalized polyarylates can be prepared by reacting a stoichiometric excess of diacid chloride with a dihydroxy-substituted aromatic compound (eg, resorcinol) in the presence of an organic base. After obtaining the group-substituted polyarylate, it can be produced by a solution polymerization method in which the chlorocarbonyl group can be converted into various reactive end groups such as a carboxy group and an epoxy group.
