titleOfInvention Solid composition containing a proton pump inhibitor
abstract The present invention relates to a method for oral administration of a solid composition containing an acid labile proton pump inhibitor compound in the form of a number of pellets layered with an enteric coating, wherein the pellets comprise one or more pharmaceuticals. Present in a mixture with an acceptable thickener and an aqueous carrier, and is characterized in that a viscous medium can be formed when the thickener is dispersed in the aqueous carrier. Alternatively, enteric pellets are present in a mixture with a viscous aqueous medium. The resulting viscous aqueous suspension can be administered by gastric tube. This method and composition is particularly intended for the treatment of patients in need of proton pump inhibitors, i.e. the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, and the treatment of patients who have difficulty swallowing or pediatric patients.
