titleOfInvention Method for preparing caprolactam
abstract The present invention relates to a method for preparing caprolactam by Beckmann rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime by supplying cyclohexanone oxime to a reaction mixture containing (i) sulfuric acid, (ii) SO 3 and (iii) caprolactam. The SO 3 content of the reaction mixture is 9-20% by weight and the molar ratio M of the reaction mixture, defined as (n SO 3 + n H 2 SO 4 ) / n cap , is 1-1.4, where n SO 3 = SO 3 amount of mol units in the reaction mixture, n H2SO4 = H 2 SO 4 amount of mol units in the reaction mixture, n cap = caprolactam amount of mol units in the reaction mixture.
