abstract The present invention relates to a method for measuring the amount of lubricating oil in an exhaust gas mixture, the method comprising a step of ionizing an exhaust gas mixture using an ion source (3) and a connected power source. In accordance with the step of supplying the exhaust gas mixture ions to the filter device (5) implemented as a multipole element and the lubricating oil fraction to be measured, the filter device (5) has a transmittance range. A step of setting, a step of removing ions having a specific mass outside the range of transmittance, and a step of not only measuring the concentration of transmitted ions but also supplying other ions to the measuring device (8). In the present invention, the measurement of the fraction of lubricating oil fraction to be measured is performed as a total measurement of the concentration of ions over a range of transmittance in one step. The invention also relates to an apparatus for carrying out the method. The present invention improves both measurement accuracy and measurement speed.
