titleOfInvention Disposable transducer seal
abstract A transducer seal designed to seal the opening of the transducer housing for therapeutic ultrasound procedures. The seal has a membrane, retainer, and a mating device for locking the transducer housing in place. This membrane is essentially permeable to ultrasonic energy while extending about the retainer. The transducer seal can be made in a disposable or reusable shape. The present invention also provides a device for maintaining a barrier between the transducer housing and the external environment, the device comprising a membrane that is substantially permeable to ultrasonic energy; Means for sealing the membrane, providing means for providing a substantially fluid-tight barrier between the transducer housing and the external environment.
