titleOfInvention Two-component curable composition
abstract A two-component reactive composition is disclosed. Each component contains a filler having a thin platelet structure (eg, nanoclay) and additional fillers that interact with the filler before mixing. Each component can incorporate an amount of filler that renders the component flowable, so that the components can be easily mixed so that they can be dispensed at any time. When the components are thoroughly mixed, the resulting resin may have a higher viscosity than the individual components. The amount of filler incorporated is preferably selected so that the resulting blended resin can be applied on a vertical surface without significant slumping. The viscosity of the mixed material can be 5-10 times or more than the viscosity of the individual components before mixing. The compositions of the present invention can be used in adhesives, modeling pastes, paints, sealants, putties, mastics, sealants, caulks, encapsulants, or surface paints (eg paints).
