The present invention relates to a transdermal system for sustained delivery of high molecular weight hydrophilic drugs, particularly peptide drugs, polypeptide drugs or protein drugs, and uses thereof. The system includes a device for generating microchannels in the skin of a subject along with a transdermal patch comprising a polymer matrix and at least one reservoir containing a therapeutic or immunogenic peptide, polypeptide or protein. This system achieves sustained therapeutic blood concentrations of these drugs by providing sustained delivery of therapeutic or immunogenic drugs. |
