Activated carbon treatment |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a method for purifying a compound using activated carbon treatment. In the method according to the invention, several filter units with activated carbon fixed in a matrix operate sequentially and in countercurrent mode. After passing through a suitable volume of feed, the filter of the next series is removed by removing the filter unit of a specific position number from the first series of filter units and coupling the additional filter unit to another specific position number. A unit is obtained and processing continues through the next volume of feed. This method overcomes the yield loss problem of purified compounds as seen during conventional activated carbon treatment.
