Multi-lens light assembly for diagnostic devices |
abstract |
A diagnostic device for detecting a fluorescent phenomenon associated with the presence of an analyte in a sample is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing, an excitation light source (66) and a photodetector (70), and an integrated multi-surface light module (62). The optical module (62) is integrally formed and has an up-focusing optical surface (80) for directing excitation light from the light source (66) to the focal region (60) in the analyte detection zone (30) of the device. A second portion for directing fluorescence emission light generated by the fluorescence phenomenon in the stream (63) portion and the detection zone (30) to the photodetector (70) in a direction substantially perpendicular to the path of the excitation light. It consists of a downstream part (65) having a focal-forming optical surface and at least one reflecting surface. The light module (62) can be applied to a variety of assay formats including multi-sample, sample array, and disposable cartridge formats. |
