Programmable molecular barcode |
abstract |
The present disclosure relates to methods of making and / or using molecular barcodes. In certain embodiments of the invention, the barcode includes a polymer backbone that may include one or more branched structures. The tag may be attached to the backbone and / or the branched structure. Barcodes may also include probes that can bind to targets such as proteins, nucleic acids and other biomolecules or aggregates. Different barcodes can be identified by tag type and location. In other embodiments, barcodes can be generated by hybridization of one or more tagged oligonucleotides to a template that includes a container portion and a probe portion. Tagged oligonucleotides may be designed as modular code portions to form different barcodes specific for different targets. In an alternative embodiment, the barcode can be prepared by polymerization of monomer units. The bound barcode can be detected by various imaging modalities such as surface plasmon resonance, fluorescence or Raman spectroscopy. |
