Described herein are compositions and methods of interest for detecting, diagnosing, and treating breast cancer (BRC). In particular, the present invention describes that three BRC-related genes, referred to herein as A5657, B9769, and C7965, are upregulated in BRC cells compared to normal cells. In one embodiment, the diagnostic method comprises determining the level of expression of a BRC-related gene that distinguishes BRC cells from normal cells; in one alternative embodiment, the diagnostic method comprises among BRC cells. Determining the expression level of BRC-related genes that distinguish DCIS cells from IDC cells. The present invention further provides methods of screening for therapeutic agents useful in the treatment of breast cancer, methods of treating breast cancer, and methods of vaccinating a subject against breast cancer. |
