Using an appropriately substituted cyclodextrin as a solubilizer, an aqueous solution of diterpenes such as forskolin, its homologues, analogs and derivatives is prepared to a concentration of about 6%. In the absence of cyclodextrin, some diterpenes, such as forskolin, dissolve only in water to a concentration of about 0.001%. As a preparation for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, nutritional supplements containing diterpenes such as forskolin and homologous substances, topical and systemic applications of such aqueous solutions are found. |
