Dry separation of contaminants from polyester materials |
abstract |
A method for separating polyester from contaminants is disclosed, for example, suitable for polyester recycling systems. The method is a dry separation method and involves spinning a mixture of polyester and contaminants at high speed in a cleaning chamber. While the mixture is spinning, contaminants are decomposed and pass through the wire mesh on the chamber walls, while the polyester is not substantially decomposed and can remain in the cleaning chamber. Polyester fines can also remain in the cleaning chamber. A cleaning device suitable for use in the process is also disclosed. The apparatus comprises a metal mesh of hardened material that can help to break down the contaminants and a number of rotating blades that can spin the mixture within the device and also help to break down the pollutant material. be able to. |
