abstract Disclosed herein is an interventional catheter device and method for use to create an initial pathway within a vascular occlusion. The first member includes a manually actuated assembly disposed at the distal end of a blunt dissection catheter that makes a blunt dissection within the vessel obstruction to form an incision passage or small passage through the obstruction. A blunt dissection catheter. The second member is a sheath catheter that functions as a conduit, and the blunt dissection catheter is allowed to freely enter, retract, and rotate through the conduit. The first and second members are used in several combinations to cross a vascular occlusion in both the coronary vasculature and the surrounding vasculature.
