abstract A lens system and optical device are disclosed that provide correction for improved vision. The lens system has an electroactive layer that provides at least one higher order aberration correction. Higher order corrections change dynamically based on the needs of the user of the lens system, such as changes in the user's gaze distance, pupil size or tear film following blinking, among others. Optical devices that provide correction of higher order aberrations using these and other lens systems have also been described. An optical guide is also described that guides the user's line of sight viewing through a lens region with higher order aberration correction.
