titleOfInvention | Method of pulmonary administration of drugs |
abstract | A method of administering a therapeutic or diagnostic agent to a patient is described. The method comprises the suspension of a liposome comprising (i) one or more vesicle-forming lipids selected from (i) a vesicle-forming lipid derivatized with a hydrophilic polymer and (ii) a neutral lipopolymer. Providing a suspension wherein the liposome is associated with the therapeutic or diagnostic agent; forming an aerosol of the liposome suspension; and administering the aerosol to a patient by inhalation. The liposomal formulation delivers intact liposome particles to the patient's respiratory tract where they are treated without observable induction of an immune response as measured by neutrophil or macrophage cell counts in the lung after administration. Form a drug reservoir. |
