abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene detection method and the like for predicting the genetic risk of type 2 diabetes based on the haplo group of mtDNA, and thereby prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. 10 representatives of 2906 Japanese people, including 1289 type 2 diabetic patients and 1617 controls, were determined by determining the genotype for the polymorphism in the coding region of the mitochondrial genome. Haplogroups (F, B, A, N9b, M7a, M7b, G1, G2, D4, and D5). Statistical analysis revealed that haplogroup F is associated with type 2 diabetes and, in the case of women, haplogroup N9a is associated with resistance to type 2 diabetes. [Selection figure] None
