abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving the final yield of MHP by suppressing MHP decomposition or side reaction during distillation in an industrial production method of MHP. A reaction mixture containing 2-hydroxy-4-methyltetrahydropyran is obtained by reacting 3-methyl-3-buten-1-ol with hydrogen and carbon monoxide in the presence of a rhodium compound. A process for producing 2-hydroxy-4-methyltetrahydropyran, wherein the obtained reaction mixture is distilled in the presence of an inorganic basic compound. [Selection figure] None |
