abstract |
Disclosed is a surface-modified carbon black that exhibits excellent dispersibility in a non- (low) polar solvent and that electrically functions effectively in the dispersion, a production method thereof, and a dispersion thereof. One terminal isocyanate group of a diisocyanate compound having an isocyanate group at both ends or a triisocyanate compound having an isocyanate group at three ends is bonded to a reactive functional group on the surface of carbon black particles, and an unbonded terminal isocyanate group is obtained. Modified carbon black in which is bonded to the hydroxyl group of the hydroxyl-modified chargeable polymer. A production method and a dispersion in which carbon black, a diisocyanate compound or a triisocyanate compound are mixed in a non-reactive solvent and then a hydroxyl-modified chargeable polymer is added and mixed, or these are mixed and bonded simultaneously.
