Synthetic barriers comprising polymeric materials that are biocompatible in vivo. The method includes applying a substance to a tissue or cell surface, such as an internal surface of a blood vessel, tissue lumen, or other hollow space. This material can also be applied to tissues including the surface of an implantable medical device. This polymeric material allows application (and preferably adhesion) to the tissue luminal surface and is a fluid state that can be increased or changed in situ to a less fluid second state; controlled permeability And, in a preferred embodiment, characterized by the incorporation of a bioactive agent (which alters cell-cell interactions) for release into the tissue lumen surface or into the lumen in vivo. It is attached. Tenascin has also been found to be a mediator of smooth muscle cell migration through interaction with specific integrin elements of the cell. [Selection] Figure 1 |
