Disclosed is a drug delivery system that enables control of an infusion pump using a remote controller in a manner that allows better control of the administered drug by a user. Setting up a communication link between a remote controller and an infusion pump containing insulin, providing a bolus dose to the pump by the remote controller (the displayed bolus dose is the total amount of insulin to be infused) A predetermined portion of the total amount of insulin from the pump, and based on information including receiving a continue command from the remote controller, a further predetermined portion of the total amount of insulin is removed from the pump.
