abstract An encoding error of an A / D converter is reduced. A cyclic type thermometer code or a normal thermometer code is input, and a digital average unit for reducing bubble errors of the input thermometer code by majority logic and output from the digital average unit. A logic boundary detection unit for detecting a logic boundary of the thermometer code; and an encoder unit for generating an output code based on an output signal from the logic boundary detection unit. Encoding errors can be eliminated by reducing bubble errors that occur. [Selection] Figure 1
