titleOfInvention Device for detecting and treating ventricular arrhythmias
abstract A system and method for monitoring a heart condition, such as an arrhythmia, over a long period of time. The present invention comprises a pulse generator including means for detecting an arrhythmia. The pulse generator is also connected to at least one subcutaneous electrode or electrode array for delivering defibrillation shock and / or pacing pulses. This electrical stimulation can be delivered between a plurality of subcutaneous electrodes or between one or more of such electrodes and the housing of the pulse generator. In one embodiment, the pulse generator includes one or more electrodes insulated from the container. These electrodes can be used to detect cardiac signals. [Selection] Figure 1
