titleOfInvention | Method for producing 3,4-dihydroxy-3-methylbutyronitrile |
abstract | The present invention provides a high-yield and economical process for the production of 3,4-dihydroxy-3-methylbutyronitrile useful as a synthetic intermediate for pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals and the like, particularly optically active substances thereof. An alkali metal is added to racemic or optically active 3-halogeno-2-methyl-1,2-propanediol, if necessary in the presence of a solvent such as N, N-dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, methanol, water or the like. It is characterized by reacting a so-called cyanate such as an alkaline earth metal cyanate and the like. [Selection figure] None |
