abstract | When guiding a recording material being conveyed by bringing a guide portion of a conveyance guide member into contact with the back surface of the recording material, image quality degradation caused by the guide portion sliding and rubbing against the recording material back surface is suppressed. The height of guide portions 41A and 41B in contact with the vicinity of the central area of the recording material back surface in the horizontal direction orthogonal to the recording material conveyance direction is such that the height of the guide portion 41C in contact with the recording material back surface both end areas in the horizontal direction. It is configured to be lower than the height. As a result, when the recording material on which the unfixed toner image is placed is conveyed to the fixing device 30, the contact pressure between the recording material back surface and the guide portion is concentrated on both end regions of the recording material back surface. Therefore, the contact pressure in the central area on the back surface of the recording material is smaller than in the conventional configuration in which the guide portion has the same height in the lateral direction.
