titleOfInvention Purification of exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxides exhausted from internal combustion engines
abstract In a system including an internal combustion engine as a power source, exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxides exhausted from the internal combustion engine is purified without reducing energy efficiency and increasing the size of the system. An exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxides exhausted from an engine is supplied to a cathode of a fuel cell, a hydrogen rich gas generated by a hydrogen gas generator is supplied to an anode of the fuel cell, and hydrogen is supplied. In addition to generating electricity through an electrochemical reaction between and nitrogen oxides, nitrogen oxides are decomposed. The fuel cell 20 is a hydrogen separation fuel cell that is operated at a temperature substantially equal to the temperature of the exhaust gas exhausted from the engine 10. [Selection] Figure 1
