PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ginkgo biloba extract which does not contain ginkgolic acid and contains an active ingredient of a conventional ginkgo biloba extract and has a remarkable effect on the activation of brain cells. A composition having a brain function activating effect, comprising a nanoparticulate ginkgo biloba extract as an active ingredient. It is a ginkgo biloba extract containing no ginkgolic acid produced by a breakdown method in which ginkgo biloba extract powder is crushed by a combination of a dry method and a wet method. Nano fine particles are fine particles of 100 nm or less. The said composition is a thing chosen from the group which consists of a seasoning, a food additive, a food material, food / beverage products, health food / beverage products, a pharmaceutical and quasi-drug, and feed. The health food / beverage product is a food / beverage product for a patient with a disorder of cerebral circulation metabolism whose symptoms are prevented or ameliorated by a brain function activation effect.
