abstract |
An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing FDCA capable of producing FDCA efficiently and quantitatively under mild conditions by reducing energy consumption without using an expensive catalyst. SOLUTION: A furan ring compound having any two functional groups of hydroxymethyl group, formyl group and carboxyl group at the 2-position and 5-position of a furan ring is oxidized by a permanganate metal salt in an alkaline environment. To obtain furan-2,5-dicarboxylic acid. Preferably, the alkaline environment contains one or more of an alkali metal hydroxide and an alkaline earth metal hydroxide, and a permanganate metal salt is added to an alkaline aqueous solution containing a furan ring compound.
