Trehalose transporter gene and method for introducing trehalose into cells using the gene |
abstract |
A novel trehalose transporter gene is isolated and identified, and a method for introducing trehalose into a cell using the gene is provided. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A plurality of EST clones annotated on a sugar transporter have been identified from a Nemuri chironika EST database. Based on the nucleotide sequence information of the cluster composed of the EST clones, a full-length cDNA (PvTRET1) of about 2.3 kb was isolated from Nemurian chironomid using the RACE method. This cDNA has a conserved domain of a sugar transporter. Orthologs of PvTRET1 were widely conserved in insects, and they all had enhanced diffusive trehalose transport activity. This activity confers trehalose transport activity to any organism. [Selection figure] None |
