abstract | The present invention provides a fluorine-containing elastomer having a small polymer branching and a high terminal iodine content, and a fluorine-containing molded article having an excellent balance between compression set and tensile elongation at break obtained by vulcanizing the elastomer. A fluorine-containing elastomer contains 20 to 90 mol% of vinylidene fluoride repeating units and 10 to 80 mol% of hexafluoropropylene repeating units, and (a) 0.01 to 10 wt% iodine atoms are contained in the elastomer. And (b) an acetone solution having a polymer number average molecular weight of 1,000 to 300,000 and (c) a polymer concentration of about 20% is measured by high resolution 19 F-NMR, and has the following formula: The fluorine-containing elastomer which has a “VdF branching ratio” of 200 ppm or less and is capable of peroxide vulcanization.
