Provided is a phthalocyanine derivative having high efficiency when applied to a dye-sensitized solar cell. A phthalocyanine derivative having an asymmetric structure represented by general formula (1). (In the formula (1), X 1 to 3 is t- butyl, X 4 is .M is -CH (CH 2 COOH) COOH is Zn.) That is, with respect to the benzene ring of (a) a phthalocyanine skeleton , Forming a flow of electrons by introducing an electron donating group and an electron withdrawing group asymmetrically; and (b) adopting a carboxy group makes it strong against titanium oxide commonly used in dye-sensitized solar cells.
