titleOfInvention Organic open cell foam
abstract An organic SPM comprising a large monolithic foam having a size that is not limited by the foam manufacturing method. An organic microporous material ("SPM") comprising open cell foam with unlimited size and shape is provided. These SPMs exhibit minimal shrinkage and cracking. A process that does not require supercritical extraction is also provided as a process for preparing SPM. These processes include hydroxylated aromatic sol-gel polymerization in which at least one suitable electrophilic linking agent and at least one suitable solvent capable of strengthening the sol-gel are present. Also disclosed are carbonized derivatives of organic SPM. [Selection figure] None
