abstract | A heat-resistant light diffusing plate that is less deformed by heat when a cold cathode ray tube is turned on is provided. A heat-resistant light diffusing plate is characterized in that a light diffusing agent is dispersed in a styrene monomer-methacrylic acid copolymer. The styrene monomer unit content of the styrene monomer-methacrylic acid copolymer is usually 80 to 95 mol%. The thickness is 1 to 3 mm. The light diffusing plate 10 is also used as a multilayer light diffusing plate 10 in which an ultraviolet absorbing layer 12 made of a transparent resin containing an ultraviolet absorber is laminated. The heat-resistant light diffusion plate 10 of the present invention or the backlight device 4 using the multilayer light diffusion plate 10 and the liquid crystal cell 3 are provided in the direct liquid crystal display 2 as the light diffusion plate 10.
