The anode body of a solid electrolytic capacitor and a method for forming the anode body are improved to simplify the capacitor manufacturing process, improve the reliability, and increase the capacitor withstand voltage. In an anode body in which a coating layer is formed on a metal surface, the coating layer includes a hydroxide represented by the following chemical formula (1), a hydroxide represented by the chemical formula (2), or a composite thereof.
