An object of the present invention is to provide a photothermographic material and an image forming method which are excellent in storage stability at high temperature and high humidity, have a good color tone after development, and have little color tone fluctuation. A photothermographic material containing organic silver, silver halide, a binder, a reducing agent and a decolorizable dye on a support, wherein the decolorizable dye is selected in an unexposed area after exposure and development.
