abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel star polymer compound having a hydrophobic main skeleton and a hydrophilic chain, particularly a star polymer compound capable of forming a polymer micelle, and a method for producing the same. A polymerization initiator comprising a modified epoxy compound in which a hydroxyl group of an epoxy compound comprising a dinaphthalene-type tetrafunctional epoxy compound residue and a monovalent aromatic hydroxy compound residue is modified with a group having a sulfonyloxy group. And a star-shaped polymer compound obtained by cationic polymerization of an oxazoline monomer or the like, or a method for producing the same, such as substitution of the sulfonyloxy group with polyalkylene glycol.
