abstract An unsaturated polyester resin reinforced with fibers is decomposed with glycol to separate and recover the fiber component from the unsaturated polyester resin component, and the recovered unsaturated polyester resin component is suitable for various uses. A method for producing a polyester resin is provided. A first decomposition step in which a fiber-reinforced unsaturated polyester resin is decomposed with glycol to obtain a decomposition product, a first separation step in which a decomposition solution is separated from a solid content of the decomposition product, and glycol is added to the decomposition solution. In addition, a second decomposition step of further decomposing the fiber-reinforced unsaturated polyester resin, a second separation step of separating the decomposition solution from the solid content of the decomposition product, and adding a dibasic acid to the decomposition solution, the glycol in the decomposition solution A method for producing a resynthesized unsaturated polyester resin, comprising a condensation polymerization step of subjecting a component and a dibasic acid to a condensation polymerization reaction to obtain a dibasic acid glycol ester.
