An improved method for diagnosing myasthenia gravis, an organ-specific autoimmune disease in rodents. Also provided are diagnostic kits for identifying subjects with myasthenia gravis. One or more selected from heat shock protein 60 (hsp60), alpha isoform heat shock protein 90 (hsp90α), and beta isoform heat shock protein 90 (hsp90β) in bodily fluids of rodents. Myasthenia gravis in a subject is diagnosed by measuring the amount of at least one autoantibody that specifically binds to the self-antigen. [Selection figure] None |
