abstract Disclosed is a highly crystalline anatase single-phase titanium oxide ultrafine particle having a unique crystal plane and a highly crystalline particle size of 5 to 100 nm, and a method for producing the same, by a novel titanium oxide production method. SOLUTION: A titanium alkoxide or a hydrolysis product of a titanium metal salt is used as a starting material, and a mixture of an alkali aqueous solution, water, diol or triol is hydrothermally treated and crystallized to obtain ultrafine titanium oxide particles. The titanium oxide fine particles are highly crystalline anatase single-phase titanium oxide ultrafine particles having a particle diameter of 5 to 100 nm and a crystal face {101} clearly appearing.
