abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a binder resin for an electrostatic charge image developing toner in which the content of a metal catalyst is suppressed. Furthermore, an electrostatic image developing toner having high image quality using the same is provided. Furthermore, the present invention provides an electrostatic charge developer using the electrostatic charge image developing toner, and an image forming method using the electrostatic charge image development toner or the electrostatic charge image developer. A binder resin for toner obtained by a polycondensation reaction of a polycarboxylic acid and a polyol, wherein 50 mol% or more and 100 mol% or less of the polycarboxylic acid contains an aromatic hydrocarbon group or an alicyclic hydrocarbon group. It is characterized by comprising a specific compound containing, wherein 10 mol% or more and 100 mol% or less of the polyol consists of a specific compound containing bisphenol S and / or bisphenol Z skeleton, and the metal element derived from the catalyst in the resin is 100 ppm or less.
