abstract | The present invention provides a novel antistatic agent free from metal contamination problems and a thermoplastic resin composition containing the antistatic agent. A polycarboxylic acid component and a polyhydric alcohol component are added in the presence or absence of a monocarboxylic acid component and / or a monoalcohol component, and the ratio of the total alcohol component to the total carboxylic acid component is 2.5 mol. An antistatic agent comprising an esterification reaction product or an alkyl-terminated partial modified product of the reaction product obtained by esterification under a ratio or less, and the above-mentioned antistatic agent in a thermoplastic resin polymer. A thermoplastic resin composition in which the proportion of the antistatic agent is 0.001 to 20 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the thermoplastic resin polymer.
