abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a transfer dust when transferring a toner image from an image carrier to a transfer body with a simpler structure in an image forming apparatus for forming a toner image of a plurality of colors on the transfer body, and to obtain a good image. An image forming apparatus that can be obtained is provided. A toner image is transferred to an intermediate transfer belt 5 as a transfer member by applying pressure and a transfer electric field to each color toner image in a primary transfer nip for each of the four colors, thereby forming a four-color full-color toner image. In the image forming apparatus, four color toner images are transferred onto the respective photosensitive drum drums 2Y, 2M, 2C, and 2K as latent image carriers before passing through the primary transfer nip and intermediate transfer after passing through the secondary transfer nip. On the belt 5, the load F applied to the secondary transfer nip is adjusted so that the non-electrostatic adhesion force between the toners forming the toner image increases by 3 [nN] or more.
