abstract |
An object of the present invention is to suppress an internal short circuit of a battery caused by precipitation of zinc oxide at a separator between a positive electrode and a negative electrode of an alkaline battery and prevent its short life. In the alkaline battery of the present invention, a carbon material is contained in the gelled zinc negative electrode. Here, the amount of the carbon material to be contained is preferably 20 to 5000 ppm by mass with respect to the zinc alloy powder, and it is effective to use, for example, graphite or activated carbon as the carbon material.
