abstract | A photocatalytic film having sensitivity to both ultraviolet light and visible light, and a water-resolved semiconductor light having a structure in which this photocatalytic film and a dye-enhanced solar cell are superposed and suitable for generating hydrogen and oxygen from water An electrode and a water splitting apparatus using the same are provided. A first photocatalyst film 18 formed on a transparent conductive film 19a on one surface of a transparent substrate 15 and a second photocatalyst film 21 formed on the first photocatalyst film 18 are provided. The first photocatalyst film 18 is composed of a TiO x film (x <2.0) containing oxygen and titanium at a stoichiometric ratio that causes oxygen deficiency, and the second photocatalyst film 21 is composed of a TiO 2 film.
