abstract | In a gas generator having two or more gas output units driven by a single igniter, the output of each gas output unit is made different while preventing an increase in size and a slow rise in gas output. A gas generator 1A has a substantially cylindrical housing, and includes an ignition chamber 13, first and second combustion chambers 23, 33, and first and second discharge passages therein. The ignition chamber 13 is provided in the base portion 10 of the housing, and houses the igniter 12 and the charge transfer material 14. The first and second combustion chambers 23 and 33 are provided in the first and second cylindrical portions 20 and 30 of the housing, respectively, and contain a gas generating agent. The first and second discharge passages are provided at the front end sides of the first and second cylindrical portions 20 and 30 of the housing, respectively, and discharge gas generated in the first and second combustion chambers 23 and 33 to the outside of the housing.
