To improve stability, durability, and reliability of discharge characteristics. A method of manufacturing a short arc type high-pressure discharge electrode in which an electrode body 1 is disposed at the tip of an electrode core shaft 3 made of a refractory metal, each having a central hole made of a refractory metal powder. Preliminary sintering is performed with the molded body of the electrode body as a pre-sintered molded body 12 that retains a higher porosity than the porosity of the electrode core shaft 3, and the tip of the electrode core shaft 3 is calcined of the electrode body 2. The discharge electrode assembly 21 is configured by inserting it into the center hole of the molded body, the discharge electrode assembly 21 is sintered and heat-treated, the main sintering of the electrode body 2, and the contraction rate between the electrode body 2 and the electrode core shaft 3. Due to the difference, the two are coupled, and by avoiding the remaining internal strain, the occurrence of cracks and the like is avoided, and the stability, durability, and reliability of the discharge characteristics can be improved.
