PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping material which is not based on a mass law and which can effectively attenuate vibrations, particularly low frequency sounds. SOLUTION: A vibration damping material comprising a foamed porous material, the foaming ratio of the porous material defined as [volume after foaming / volume before foaming] is 1.2 or more A continuous phase having a porous structure in which the porous material is relatively soft, and a relatively hard dispersoid dispersed in the continuous phase, A vibration damping material in which a large number of pores forming a porous structure are not substantially communicated between the front and back surfaces of the porous material.
