abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a NOx purification catalyst device at a target temperature for desulfurization in an exhaust gas purification system having a NOx purification catalyst device carrying a NOx purification catalyst for purifying NOx in exhaust gas even during desulfurization control and during transient operation. The present invention provides a desulfurization control method for an exhaust gas purification system and an exhaust gas purification system capable of accurately supplying a necessary and sufficient amount of fuel for heating in order to reach and maintain a state equal to or higher than a target temperature for desulfurization. A temperature increase fuel amount Wf required to raise a first detection temperature Tc1 indicating a catalyst temperature of a NOx purification catalyst device 11 to a target temperature Tsp for desulfurization by desulfurization control is determined by the NOx purification catalyst device 11. Is set using a heat quantity calculated from a first heat quantity Q1 required to raise the temperature of the exhaust gas and a second heat quantity Q2 required to raise the temperature of the exhaust gas.
