titleOfInvention | Optical film, manufacturing method thereof, polarizing plate using optical film, and liquid crystal display device using polarizing plate |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film used as a protective film for a liquid crystal display element, that is, a polarizing plate, having no unevenness over the entire width of the film, having substantially zero retardation value, and having excellent flatness, and production thereof A method and a polarizing plate using an optical film capable of securing a stable retardation value are provided. Provided is an image display device capable of realizing an easy-to-see display having a high contrast ratio over a wide range, particularly a liquid crystal display device operating in an IPS mode. SOLUTION: A method for producing an optical film by a solution casting film forming method starts a first stretching process when a residual solvent amount of a web is 80 to 120% by weight, and a residual solvent amount of the web is 10 to 60% by weight. By starting the second stretching step, an optical film having an in-plane retardation (Ro) value of 0 to 5 and a thickness direction retardation (Rt) value of -10 to 10 is produced. To do.
