abstract | [PROBLEMS] To synthesize aromatic acetylene by coupling aromatic halides and terminal acetylene in the presence of a catalyst containing palladium and a base, in the case where a phosphonium salt is used together, in the case where the conventional method is not used. In comparison, a means for smoothly proceeding at a high yield is found, and a method for industrially producing aromatic acetylenes is provided. The coupling reaction is performed in the presence of a phosphonium salt. As this phosphonium salt, tri (n-butyl) hexadecylphosphonium bromide, tri (n-hexyl) hexadecylphosphonium bromide, ethyltriphenylphosphonium bromide and the like are suitable. Furthermore, when these phosphonium salts coexist, it becomes possible to dramatically reduce the amount of the catalyst containing palladium to 0.0001 to 0.005 mol with respect to 1 mol of the aromatic halide, This is an economically advantageous process for producing aromatic acetylenes.
